Nepal’s Abhishek Baral and Ashutosh Baral have won the gold medal in the Sarawak Borneo Cup International Taekwondo Championship held in Malaysia.

Kumar Lama Ghising, Central Member of Nepal Taekwondo Association and Coordinator of Junior National Team Preparation Sub-Committee informed that Abhishek won gold medal in men’s 80 kg weight group and Ashutosh in men’s above 87 kg weight group in Saturday’s match.

Similarly, Pujan Khadka in men’s 54 kg weight group, Suraj Karki in 74 kg and Abas Khan in men’s 68 kg have won silver medals. Pooja Kunwar in women’s 68 kg weight group, Abhishek Dallakoti in men’s 52 kg, Shrichandra Karki in 55 kg, Aftav Khan in weight group above 87 kg and Jwalasingh Gurung in 68 kg have won bronze medals.

Earlier, Nepal won one gold and three silver medals in the PUMSE competition held on Friday. Nepal’s Rekhmaya Gurung won gold in the women’s 30-40 age group, Sandipa Amgai in the women’s 18-30 age group, Mohammad Umar Khan in the men’s group and Roshan Khan in the 40-50 age group won the silver medal.

After Malaysia, Nepali athletes will compete in the 11th Asian Junior Taekwondo Championship in Vietnam. The Junior Taekwondo Championship is being organized from August 25th to 27th. -Rasus
